Oxfam
Oxfam is dedicated to creating lasting solutions to poverty, hunger, and social injustice through long-term partnerships with poor communities around the world.
Vulnerable communities exist in the Lower Mississippi Delta due to high poverty rates, an array of social vulnerabilities and climate change hazards such as flooding, drought, rising sea level and hurricanes. The likelihood of significant federal funding for coastal restoration offers coastal communities new opportunities. Oxfam partners with local and state-based organizations that represent the interests of low-income and people of color communities in the lower Mississippi Delta region of Louisiana and Mississippi. Through this program, community representatives will gain the organizational support in order to leverage federal restoration and adaptation funding that addresses environmental issues while offering green jobs and economic development in their communities.
