As part of our marine conservation initiative, we work to create networks of effectively managed protected areas that conserve key biological features and ensure the sustainable utilization of marine resources in order to benefit nature and people.

An example of this is the Misool Eco-Resort agreement with communities in the Misool marine protected area (MPA).  WildAid and Misool Eco-Resort worked with local communities to expand the no-take zone coverage in the Misool MPA to include the Daram Archipelago, a 40,000 hectare island complex with incredibly rich biodiversity.

Together with the traditional owners of the Daram Islands, a no-take zone has been established, effectively extending Misool Eco Resort's existing no-take zone to over 1200 sq km (465 sq mi).
