As part of its Home Region focus area, the Walton Family Foundation works to enhance the opportunities, amenities and overall quality of life for residents of northwest Arkansas. We believe that access to fine arts and culture is a critical component of life in a great community. It is that belief that fuels the foundation’s support of TheatreSquared.

TheatreSquared, located in Fayetteville, Ark., has served as northwest Arkansas’s regional theatre since 2005. As one of only two year-round, nonprofit professional theatres in the state, it brings top-notch theatrical productions to the region throughout the year and boosts the local economy by providing jobs for the actors, crew and staff that keep the theatre running.

With the foundation’s support, TheatreSquared was able to reach new audiences in the region and bring record numbers of patrons to the theatre in the past year. The theatre’s Gala for Education – an annual celebration and fundraiser for innovative arts learning – had its most successful year to date. The foundation’s support of TheatreSquared has also raised the theatre’s profile nationwide. In September, the theatre was awarded the 2011 National Theatre Company grant – an award given by the American Theatre Wing to the ten most promising new theatres in the country.

TheatreSquared brings the world of Broadway tunes, dramatic monologues and standing ovations to the heart of northwest Arkansas, enhancing the lives of its residents and energizing the local economy.
