$25 Million Investment in KIPP
To Help Double Number Of Families That Choose KIPP Schools

The Walton Family Foundation is proud to announce a $25 million investment in the KIPP Foundation to double the number of students attending KIPP public charter schools across the country, enabling the organization to expand to serve 59,000 students by 2015. By expanding access to high-quality educational options for families in underserved communities across the United States, KIPP is helping to transform public education in our nation.

From D.C. to Los Angeles, New York to New Orleans, Newark to Atlanta, the majority of KIPP schools outperform neighboring school districts, despite serving students that enter KIPP schools with lower test scores, according to a 2010 Mathematica study. KIPP students are among those that are traditionally underserved by the public school system – 85 percent qualify for free or reduced priced-lunch, 60 percent are African American, and 35 percent are Latino.

We are proud to support KIPP as they expand to make a deeper and broader impact across the country. By investing in programs and organizations that expand parental choice and equal opportunities in education, the Walton Family Foundation seeks to transform public education in the United States.
