Arani Kajenthira provides strategic leadership and management capacity to foundation-wide structures and processes, including annual planning, grants management and operations, and professional development. She facilitates Board engagement on topics related to organizational health, and cultivates external relationships to help inform internal change efforts.
Prior to her time at the foundation, Arani was an Associate Director at FSG Inc., a nonprofit strategy consulting firm, where she gained extensive experience advising philanthropic and nonprofit actors on strategic planning and multi-sector collaboration. Before FSG, Arani was a Research Fellow at the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs at the Harvard Kennedy School, where she managed research projects and developed policy recommendations for more sustainable water management in arid states. Arani has practical experience in environmental consulting from her time at Geosyntec Consultants, and a nuanced understanding of international development challenges from her involvement with Engineers Without Borders (Canada) and her academic fieldwork in Kazakhstan, Brazil and the Middle East.
A Rhodes Scholar, Arani holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford (United Kingdom), and a B.Sc. in Biological Engineering from the University of Guelph (Canada).
