Sara Ortega is a communications officer for the foundation’s Environment Program. Prior to this role, Sara spent more than a decade leading communication strategy and teams in the education space as managing director of regional communications and public affairs for Teach For America and director of communications for Uplift Education. She previously served as an adjunct professor teaching public relations for nonprofits at the University of North Texas. Sara began her career as a city/county government reporter in Weatherford, Texas.
Sara has a master’s degree in journalism with a focus on strategic communications from the University of North Texas and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Texas Tech University. She currently lives in Washington, D.C.
