Statement on Fraudulent Email Regarding Grant Proposals
The Walton Family Foundation has been made aware of a fraudulent email claiming to be from our Executive Director, Buddy Philpot. The email may look as if it is coming from a foundation-related website or from an email address that uses the name of a member of the Walton family. The message indicates that the recipient has been chosen “to submit a grant proposal for immediate endorsement.” The foundation did not send this email, and we encourage you not to respond to it.
If you have received an email like the example below, we recommend you forward the email to the Internet Crime Complaint Center, a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the National White Collar Crime Center by visiting http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx. Additionally, please forward the email to us at wffinfo@wffmail.com.

However, in order to meet this requirement, an organization or individual applying for a grant, needs first to send a mail(emailsonly) indicating acceptance to the address provided below. The mail should briefly describe the organization or individual and the proposed project, also briefly explaining its relevance to a particular Walton Family Foundation funding area (shown below) and initiative, and provide an estimate of the funds that would be requested (this amount should reflect 20% of the total revenue specified above which is $116.2 million USD). All correspondence should be addressed to:

Our staff will review the letter of acceptance and respond to the organization regarding the project's relevance to our focus areas. If, based on the letter of acceptance, the project appears to match our funding criteria and priorities, the organization/individual, may be invited to submit a formal grant proposal and budget. An applicant should not submit a formal grant proposal until such an invitation is received.
