Samantha “Sam” Battersby is the program grants manager for the Walton Family Foundation’s Environment Program. In this role, she oversees the planning and execution of annual grantmaking and administrative budgets, supporting the end-to-end grant approval process and partnering across teams to ensure timely, compliant and effective grant implementation.

Sam is particularly focused on strengthening systems and relationships that support high-impact philanthropy. She works closely with colleagues and grantees to navigate the grant lifecycle, providing guidance and fostering collaboration to help maximize outcomes and advance shared goals.

Prior to joining the foundation, Sam built a strong foundation in outreach and environmental education, experience she now brings to her work in environmental philanthropy and grantmaking.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Arts in Biology from Miami University, where she focused on community-based conservation.
