To support work with mainstream farmers, primarily in Iowa, in support of federal and state conservation programs that provide funding for on-farm practices that improve water quality.
To improve fishery management plans (Planes de Manejos, or PdMs) for four benthic fisheries as tools for change toward sustainable fisheries; to reduce the risk of failed implementation by enhancing the scientific knowledge used in management of each fishery, building capacity among stakeholders, and incorporating the ecosystem-based approach.
To continue work through the AGree partnership to better take advantage of federal agricultural subsidies, including crop insurance, to accelerate the adoption of conservation practices; particularly those related to cover crops, nutrient management and other practices that can improve water quality.
