Where — and why — does opportunity flourish in the United States? This is the question driving new research conducted by Gallup and the Walton Family Foundation. Based on a nationally representative survey of nearly 7,000 U.S. adults, the study explores the concept of opportunity at the individual and community levels. The data show that opportunity is not confined to any particular locale or group of people. Rather, it expands in places that not only support core pillars like education and the environment but those that also empower their residents to suggest local solutions for local problems.
