Program Officer, Environment Program

Leonardo Pradela ("Leo") is a program officer with the foundation’s Environment Program, where he manages a portfolio of grants aimed at improving ocean health. His work focuses on driving demand for sustainable seafood in the U.S. and Europe while advancing fisheries management practices in key geographies such as Indonesia. Through a combination of community engagement, environmental science and market-based strategies, Leo’s work supports scalable solutions to safeguard marine ecosystems.

Originally from Brazil, Leo brings nearly 15 years of international experience in environmental and social risk management, and natural resource conservation. His career spans roles in corporate, financial services, nonprofit, and research settings—including conducting social and environmental due diligence for high-risk banking operations at Wells Fargo, implementing strategies at Walmart and the Walmart Foundation to help reduce deforestation in global supply chains, and advisory work on forest and agricultural supply chains in Latin America. Leo received a master’s degree public administration focused on environmental science and policy from Columbia University and his undergraduate degree in international relations from PUC-Rio.
