More Gen Zers say they feel ready for the future—but fewer say they’re thriving.
According to the 2025 Voices of Gen Z Study, released by Gallup and the Walton Family Foundation, 56% of Gen Z said they feel prepared for what lies ahead. That’s up 12 points since the study began in 2023. Nearly 8 in 10 (77%) believe they have a great future ahead of them.
Yet that optimism masks a troubling decline in life satisfaction.
The study finds that overall well-being among Gen Z adults aged 18-28 dropped to a three-year low. Although Gen Z students report feeling more engaged in school, many say their coursework still feels disconnected from their interests or goals.
The findings reflect how meaningful, relevant learning remains a key factor in shaping both students' academic success and their lives beyond high school.
